To know anything about Son of Boar Child, you must first learn about his parents. Son of Boar Child was the offspring of none other than Boar Child Lu, favored student and disciple of the revered Sho Sensei Shadow Tiger. Shadow Tiger, on one of his numerous meditative pilgrimages came across the body of a giant she-boar. There were numerous frog-crotch arrows embeded in her hide, and it looked as though she had ran far from her hunters before she perished to the wounds. Turning to continue his wanderings, Shadow Tiger was startled to hear the feeble mewling of a baby child. Quickly he rushed towards the sound, and found a young baby laying in the boar's burrow.
Shadow Tiger took the child, and named him Boar Child Lu. He was dissapointed to find that Lu lacked strength and quickness. The childs emaciated body barely had enough power to rise from his crib to suckle mushy rice from a bowl. As the child grew, however, Shadow Tiger realized that the boy held within his soggy head a powerful mind. He was also amazed at the dexterity the young boy showed, and with a happy heart Shadow Tiger began to train Lu in the ways of combat.
Boar Child Lu quickly mastered three of the four ways of magic, exceling in Life Magic, Item Magic and Creature Magic. As primary weapon Lu chose archery, and was a natural with the strong oak yumis of the Sho lands. Being raised by boars, Shadow Tiger was surprised at the natural Magic Resistance Lu possesed. He was certain that Boar Child Lu would be the champion the Sho lands needed to repell the waves of northern devils that threatened his precious rice fields. After much training Shadow Tiger let his student loose upon the country side, hoping the brave battle of Boar Child Lu would rally the otherwise silent masses of the Sho nation. Alas, it was not to be.
An intrepid explorer had stumbled across various lugian excavations, and hollow weapons were born. Even average warriors were able to pierce the otherwise powerful magics that Boar Child Lu had cast upon his hooded robe. With no hope of evasion, due to his lack of training melee defense, Boar Child Lu was soon outmatched. Yes, a long distance greater arrow(created by the crafty hands of Shadow Tiger)could sometimes kill an unsuspecting enemy, but in a stand up fight Boar Child Lu would more often than not see his arrows glancing harmlessly off the shields of glaze eyed Kung Fu warriors. Defeated, Boar Child Lu began to drink much rice liquor and plum wine.
A night of debauchery and wanton sex with some of the Mayoi concubines would change history for both Boar Child Lu and Shadow Tiger. Nine months after that fateful night a village whor... errr... respected concubine gave birth to a wrinkly and hairy child. The baby was long armed and rubbery, and lacked any hair on his skull. Rumors flew, and Boar Child Lu stepped forward to claim the newborn as his son. Retiring to the hills around Mayoi, the concubine(named Fei Mui) and Boar Child Lu rented a small apartment from Shadow Tiger. To make ends meet Boar Child Lu worked at the archery range in Q'alabar and Fei Mui cultivated Verdalim plants that she sold to desperate fishermen in Mayoi for a nice profit. The Boy grew older, and everybody knew he was dumb.
Dumb as a plank, but quick and powerful, the Son of Boar Child worked away his time on the rice paddies of Shadow Tiger's villa. As he grew, it became evident that the Son (only his mother and father know his true name) was a snarling, grunting, slobbering idiot. He slowly picked up common words, but most of his time was spent planting rice and chasing Shreths and Drudges from his paddies. Over a few hits of Verdalim, one night, Boar Child Lu suggested that perhaps the new champion of the Sho lands was in front of them, now, in the form of Son of Boar Child. Passing the Verdalim roach, Shadow Tiger exhaled a great, blue cloud.
"He is dumb, but posseses your natural boar immunity to magic. He is strong, and fast, but will never be a great magic user. His quick reflexes are evident in his ability to snatch flies from the air. His lack of brainpower and one-dimensional view will serve well. Yes. I will train him in the art of unarmed combat and melee defense. I will teach him the Arcane lore necessery to wield items of power. I may even teach him item magic."
Son of Boar Child took quickly to the teachings, and was a master of the brutal Pythos Wasp style Kung Fu that Shadow Tiger taught him. After years of training Son of Boar Child was ready. On a dark, moonless night Shadow Tiger and Boar Child Lu escorted Son to Shaoshi. There they gave him the ancestral Shadow Kouija Armor, and a bag full of spell components. A frost cestus was handed to him, and a hollow katar forged from a golem was placed in his pack. Grabbing his weapons and shield, Son of Boar Child turned once, and said in his guttural language:
"I go now, to bring honor to the Sho lands. Those that stand in my way shall die. Those that side with me will be honored. Maybe I will return after the Monsoon rains to plant rice again, or maybe I shall not return at all."
Into the streets of Shaoshi, and then later: Nanto, Yanshi, Sawatto, Holtburg and Eastham ran Son of Boar Child. His attacks were rarely honorable, and only mildly succesfull. But still he fights on, his adventures enough for 10 volumes, his wit enough for 100 comedies, his lust for battle unquenced after 1000 kills. Son of Boar Child is out there, lurking. Who will his next victim be?
